The Loose Eared Socket is part of our traditional cast iron LCC soil range. Designed for external applications, primarily on traditiional or Listed properties, this genuine cast iron soil system offers a comprehensive range of socket and spigot pipes and fittings in a black bitumen finish.

Whilst there are many material options for your waste system, cast iron is the standout choice due to a significant number of benefits over modern alternatives.

The Premier cast iron LCC Soil range provides a comprehensive offering of traditional socket & spigot pipes and fittings for soil and waste installations on the external facade of buildings with the added option to commission bespoke fabrications to special order.

Supplied ready to fit with a black bitumen finish as standard, the cast iron system offers the ideal solution for conservation and heritage projects where a pipe system is required to blend sympathetically with the building.

The Premier cast iron LCC range of pipes is available in diameters from 50mm to 150mm and in standard lengths of 0.6m, 0.9m, 1.2m and 1.8m. All of the LCC pipes and fittings are based on imperial dimensions so ensuring compatibility with existing installations when replacing or extending pipework.

The cast iron LCC soil system uses cold caulked joints which can be made with 6mm caulking cord and black joint sealant. This method removes the requirement for using naked flames to melt lead on site. Approximately 4m of caulking cord and a quarter of a cartridge of sealant would be required to make a joint in 4” diameter system.

As with all our cast iron rainwater and soil products, the Premier LCC range is highly resistant to distortion caused by accident or vandalism. Pipes and fittings are coated in a black bituminous coating and correctly installed and maintained Premier cast iron LCC soil systems can last in excess of 100 years. It is this long life expectancy which makes cast iron the cost effective choice, even more so than plastic which will need replacing several times over a single cast iron lifetime.

One of the key features of an LCC soil system is its low noise levels due to the sound deadening properties of cast iron. This is often overlooked but is an important consideration, particularly on internal systems where our TX and Mech 416 would be used.

Not only does cast iron offer a long life, it is 100% recyclable at the end of its service making it the most environmentally friendly option for your soil waste system.

We supply our cast iron LCC soil pipes and fittings with a black bitumen finish conforming to BS 416. The main components of Bitumen paint are naptha (petroleum) based. Bitumen has always been the choice for traditional soil drainage due to its resistance to moisture and good coverage of uneven surfaces. Normally this type of finish can’t be overpainted with other paint types because not only will harder materials used for over coating tend to crack or glaze, but there is also the possibility that the Bitumen will bleed through.

If the colour is important to your project we recommend our Traditional Express (TX) system.

Whilst most of our Premier soil products are ex-stock selected items are manufactured on request. Ornamental earbands to fit LCC soil can be manufactured within an agreed time scale dependant on the size of the order.

This is a genuine cast iron soil system supplied by a well-established UK foundry. Offering significantly more benefits than plastic, traditional cast iron products are proven to be versatile, durable, reliable and these sustainable products continue to meet the changing demands of modern industry.
